If you’re new here, welcome!

Kia ora and hi, I’m Ben, a Mount Maunganui-based online counsellor. I work with people caught in patterns of overthinking, people pleasing, and ADHD – people who look fine on the outside but who feel quietly exhausted and disconnected on the inside. Maybe you've spent years putting others emotions and needs ahead of your own.

In counselling, you’ll experience a warm space where you can slow down, breathe, and be yourself. Together, we’ll unpack the patterns of anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt. You'll learn tools to feel grounded and present your emotions, quieter in your mind, and more confident and connected – supporting you to live life fully on your terms.

I know it can seem strange talking to someone you don’t know yet about what’s going on for you, but most clients feel at ease pretty quickly. I’ve been through my own seasons of the above, so although I’ve got the theory (Master’s of Counselling), I’ve also got the lived experience – I “get it” in my bones – and my hope is that you’ll feel that rather quickly too.

What I help with

  • Anxiety & Overthinking

Breaking free from worry loops, perfectionism, and that relentless inner critic. Learning to quiet the noise and build real self-compassion.

  • Confidence & People Pleasing

Strengthening confidence from within, setting boundaries, and stepping out of emotional caretaking. Building more secure relationships.

  • ADHD

Building systems that work with your brain. Finding focus without shame, managing overwhelm, and rebuilding self-trust.

HOW IT WORKS

Counselling that feels like a real conversation.

Clients say I am compassionate, honest, and down-to-earth. You’ll feel my grounding presence while also noticing something alive and good is waking up inside of you as we talk. That’s called growth! The joy of being fully seen for who you are, who you’re becoming, and who you always were underneath everything.

In our sessions, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. Some sessions we're unpacking how the past has shaped you – replacing old beliefs with new and empowering beliefs that better serve you and where you’re headed. Some sessions we're talking about your daily goings on – giving you space to process and to be heard, while connecting the dots and figuring out what wants to happen next.

I’m also big on celebrating client wins, so you can expect that. Most of the time, there's also a good laugh in there somewhere too. Wherever the session flows, we're in it together.

Clients often leave feeling lighter and more like themselves – like something clicked and they can breathe easier again.

You're welcome here – whoever you are and whatever your background, beliefs, or spiritual bend. Kotahitanga ~ unity ~ oneness in diversity. ✨

When I'm not working, you'll find me surfing, exploring nature, camping, travelling with my fiancée, reading, or catching up with family and friends over a laugh and cuppa.
