Self-awareness: new beliefs and behaviours
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
— Carl Jung
Who are you, really?
Do you know who you really are? Do you know why you do the things you do? Research shows 95% of us think we are self-aware.
However, the reality is another story. Research shows only 10-15% of people have a healthy self-awareness. And even those that do have a healthy self-awareness may still be perplexed why they feel and behave in certain ways, at times, too.
You may be surprised by how much of human behaviour is driven or caused by factors that are outside of our conscious awareness. If you don’t understand why you do what you do, it’s likely your unconscious beliefs, values and meanings you have interpreted about yourself and life are running the show.
What makes you do the things you do? Is it your upbringing? Is it habit? Or it it something else?
Learn what really motivates you to do the things you do
Our identities as humans are a construct of values, beliefs, ideas, lived experiences and human needs that we have absorbed and interpreted from our environment.
Together, we’ll explore what life experiences have shaped your values, beliefs, ideas about yourself as well as your human needs.
Then, we’ll work on a plan to rewire your brain to do the things you want to do.
That means we’ll look to let go of some beliefs, behaviours and values that no longer serve you. And then you’ll consciously create some new beliefs, behaviours and values that align with a way of living that fits for you.
Be who you want to be, live how you want to live
Self-awareness is the ability to notice and experience your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions accurately and in the moment. People with a high degree of self-awareness are able to close the gap between their inner reality and their external reality.
In addition to acquiring more control over your existence and your experiences, research shows that with greater self-awareness comes the ability to see yourself closer to the way others see you.
You’ll be more confident and a better communicator. You’ll cultivate stronger relationships. And you’ll follow through on the goals and behaviours you set your mind to.
Having a healthy self-awareness is the key to unlocking the door of being your best self. What difference do you think a healthy self-awareness will have on relationships with others and yourself? How will your ability to set and achieve goals be different? What might it be like to understand why you do the things you do? And how might you be able to change your life for better so that you can be happy..?
